高野山は２００４年にユネスコの世界遺産に登録されました。
ここは９世紀初めに弘法大師空海が仏教の修行の為に開いてから現在も日本仏教の聖地として有名なところです。
１００以上のお寺があって、宿坊という修行の体験ができる宿泊可能なお寺も多くあります。

In
the ninth century, this place first opened for Kuukai’s (aka Kouboudaishi)
training in Buddhism. Since then, it is famous as a Japanese Buddhist
sacred ground.
There
are more than 100 temples in the area. At many of these temples, it is possible to lodge
and experience Shukubou training.
Rich
in nature, different beautiful sceneries of the four seasons can be experienced
here.
