鯛焼き Taiyaki


Hi everyone,

Today's discussion is about Taiyaki (a cake that takes the shape of a Sea bream). The picture above is a little Taiyaki that once existed in Aoba. It went down someone's stomach though. :)

Well, let's shift the talk to the history of Taiyaki. According to Tsuchiya sensei, Tai (Japanese for sea bream fish) is often consumed during celebratory occasions during the olden days. The word おめでたい (omedetai) means special, auspicious and happy moments in Japanese. And so, the たい (tai) adapted from the end of the adjective is often implied in Taiyaki, representing an auspicious snack. It is usually filled with bean jam. Sweet and yummy!

  5. ホワイトチョコも、おいしいかもね。
    この前、白いタイ焼きの中身が黄色だったので、
    「なんだろう?」と食べてみたらカレーでした。
    びっくり・・・・。
