The kimono
is of course Japan ’s traditional clothing. One of these is the yukata.
The yukata
is generally made from cotton, so it is very cooling and thus worn during
summer. Also, according to the kanji, as ‘clothes worn after taking a bath’, yukatas are even now a common sight at ryokans.
During summer, many young people wear yukatas to fireworks displays and summer
festivals.
